Ability Counts:
To date we have the following teams competing in the Ability Counts League or local fixtures:

  •

  • Four men's teams competing in the Ability Counts League,
  • Women and girls' team
  • Under 16’s team
  • Under 12’s team

The formation of Ability Counts was one of the key objectives of the FA's strategy for developing football for disabled people and has given them the opportunity to participate in football on a fair and level playing field.

Through our Ability Counts Football teams, we are able to provide disabled footballers with the opportunity to play regular, competitive football. Overseen and affiliated by the Devon FA, this provides great opportunities for people to play regularly and competitively. Argyle Wheelchair Football:

Argyle Community Trust delivers a wheelchair football club every Saturday morning. The ethos is based on core skills, with the aim to improve football and multi-sport movements and fitness.

Each session is led by Plymouth Argyle coaches, delivering a range of different skills that can be transferred into sports and everyday life. The sessions are very much focused on introducing sporting enthusiasts to wheelchair football and other sporting opportunities.

Social inclusion Officer Dwain Morgan states: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people of all abilities to be involved within football.  Sessions are in a safe environment for people to come along and try new skills, whilst having fun and making friends. Each session is full of skill development opportunities, fitness and fun and small-sided games. Argyle Community Trust is committed to ensuring sport opportunities are available to all and this new project aims to build on our already successful disability provision.”

The sessions, which will open up many doors for those wishing to continue participating in sport, are designed for both men and women of all abilities, over the age of 16. Sessions are delivered every Saturday morning for eight weeks from 9 till 10am at Derriford Leisure Centre.
