Extra Time

DSC_0014ARGYLE Community Trust are currently in their sixth successful year of delivering Extra-Time, originally a Football Foundation programme, that makes sport and social activities available to over 55s.

Extra-time sees a wealth of sport and recreation opportunities made available to the elderly community, creating an opportunity for over 55s to come and be healthy, whilst making new friends.

Extra-Time sees a different sporting activity delivered each week, encouraging people of all abilities to come and have a try at something new. To date, local over 55s have tried their luck at golf, snooker and orienteering, as well as nature walks on and around Dartmoor National Park. Recently the programme has served up a feast of skittles, tai-chi aerobics, new-age kurling and more.

Extra-Time Coordinator Dwain Morgan stated: “It’s great to see the elderly community come and access these activities at the stadium. No matter what sport is going on, participants still have fun. A lot of participants who come have no interest in sport, but use the opportunity to socialise and make new friends. They really get into the activities, no matter what they are, embracing the opportunity to have fun, whilst staying active.”
