ARGYLE EDUCATION LEAGUE REPORTS

Week 4

Okehampton edged past Redruth after a terrific game of football, as both teams displayed their physical prowess alongside obvious technical ability.

The scores remained blank after a tight first half but Okehampton found their rhythm following the interval, scoring twice from set-piece situations, with Jo Stratton and Declan Grimshaw on target.

Confusion led to a third from Kes Hirst but Redruth came back very strong, reducing the arrears to 3-2. The game ended with a 3-2 win for Okehampton and a great advert for the League.

The other game saw Sir John Hunt move to joint-second in the table with an entertaining 10-5 victory over Wadebridge.

Week 3

LISKEARD have moved three points clear at the top of the Argyle Education League after a 5-3 home win over a dangerous Redruth side.

The stand-out performance from week 3, however, was a 9-0 victory for Okehampton over Kevicc. Frankie Sheppard and Joe Stratton scored in the opening 10 minutes, and James Munn added a well-taken third.

A fabulous pass from Sheppard released Declan Grimshaw for number four and James Munn increased the lead before half-time. Kevicc, to their eternal credit, battled manfully after the break but further goals from Sheppard and a clinical Josh Tickner hat-trick gave the home side a comfortable win.

The final game saw Wadebridge overpower City College on a breezy afternoon. Gwion Robertson takes the plaudits for a fabulous individual effort, as Wadebridge won 8-2, although one of the consolation goals from City College was a sumptuous curling shot.

Week 2

GOALS galore in an explosive start to the Argyle Education League and Liskeard moved top of the table with an enthralling 10-5 victory at home to Kevicc.

Meanwhile, Wadebridge kicked-off their campaign with an impressive 10-2 victory at Redruth and the final match was an intriguing local derby between City College Plymouth and Sir John Hunt.

After a tough loss last week, SJH raced into a three-goal lead and despite Joshrell Pompey pulling one back, it was 4-1 at the interval. SJH continued their dominance in the second period to run out 7-2 victors.

Week 1
THE season kicked-off with Liskeard playing their first game in the league and it was a terrific start to win 3-0 at home to Okehampton.

Both goalkeepers made saves in a tight first half and Okehampton also struck the woodwork before Liskeard broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time, with Tyler Walsh sliding home a delightful cross from James Lorenz.

The home side gradually took control with their physical presence after the break and increased their lead with a wonderful Max Gilbert free-kick. Sam Humagain completed the scoring with a late strike.

The other fixture saw Sir John Hunt travel to Redruth and it was a thumping win for the home side, firing in 15 goals in a ruthless performance.

The visitors, however, did open the scoring within the first minute but Redruth quickly drew level, when a fierce strike from captain Ryan Jones was parried into the path of Jordan Rogers to mop up the rebound.

Winger Oscar Fergus then curled in a goal for Redruth to take the lead and further goals were added by Rogers, Callum Bertrand and Oscar.

Redruth then turned on the style and striker Jack Rapsey helped himself to an incredible seven goals, as well as Rogers completing his hat-trick. A tough start for Sir John Hunt but valuable footballing lessons.
