Position: Post 16 Tutor Plymouth

Argyle Community Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Sports Tutor to join our education programme in Plymouth. Reporting to the Post 16 Manager for Plymouth, you will inspire, engage and ensure that every young person that goes through a Post 16 programme with us will have an opportunity to thrive and succeed. The role of Sports Tutor will be to deliver across a number of vocational courses as required, these courses include but are not exclusively the level 2 NCFE Sports course, the level 3 BTEC in Sports Coaching, the YMCA level 2 gym instructors course, the YMCA level 3 personal trainer course and the level 3 esports extended diploma.
Alongside the Plymouth course, the Trust runs similar programmes in Camborne and Newton Abbot. Across the Trust, education programmes have expanded by 30% during the past two years resulting in a provision over 160 students, 10 staff and eight football teams that play in the U19s national leagues. We are proud of our results, with 100% of students completing the BTEC course and 96% achieving on or above their target grades.
This role will be based in Plymouth, delivered by Argyle Community Trust and run in partnership with City College Plymouth. Tutors will teach the qualifications through sport, most notably the medium of football, as part of ACT’s Football Development Programme for students aged 16-19 years. In addition to this the tutor may be required to deliver on other vocational provisions as listed above. The successful candidate must have in-depth knowledge of the BTEC Sport specification, We would expect the candidate to have a minimum Level 4 teaching qualification and ideally QTLS. In addition to this the tutor should have a good standard of English and mathematics as well as a willingness to undertake key administrative duties associated with the role.
In addition to the role outlined above, depending on your aspirations, interests and qualification, you may also be required to assist with the football coaching duties of the Plymouth Post 16 provision.

Argyle Community Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Physical Performance Coach to support the Men’s and Women’s BUCS Performance Football Programme at Plymouth Marjon University.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality strength and conditioning sessions that enhance the physical development of student-athletes within a performance football environment.
Working closely with the Higher Education Coordinator and football coaching staff, the successful candidate will contribute to the physical preparation of both performance squads through gym-based and pitch-based sessions, physical testing and individual programme design.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious coach looking to develop within a university performance environment while positively impacting the development of student-athletes.
Working pattern will be Monday evening and Friday morning.

The Deputy Head of Communities plays a pivotal role in the operational delivery and development of community-based programmes across the Devon & Cornwall regions. Reporting into the Head of Communities, the post holder will lead a team of delivery staff to ensure high-quality, safe, and impactful provision aligned to the Trust’s strategic priorities.
This role will support the Head of Communities to oversee key strands such as football development, school programmes, community activities, health-based provisions and funded projects, ensuring they meet the community programmes targets, funding outcomes, and community needs. The Deputy Head of Communities will act as a bridge between strategy and delivery, translating organisational objectives into effective, measurable programmes on the ground whilst celebrating the successes across our teams.
Working closely with our Devon & Cornwall Participation Managers and Health & Community Programmes managers, the post holder will ensure consistency, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across all delivery areas. The role also requires strong partnership working with local stakeholders including schools, local authorities, youth services, local policing teams and community organisations to sustain and grow provision. The post holder should be an exemplary practitioner who can contribute up to 0.2 to delivery.
The Deputy Head of Communities will lead by example, fostering a positive team culture, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and health & safety standards, and contributing to the Trust’s overall mission of improving lives through sport and community engagement. The post holder will inspire and motivate staff in the provision of a high-quality service establishing best practice and monitoring the safety and compliance of our programmes. Equally important in this role is the development of the workforce ensuring they understand the Trust’s mission, adopt the vision, values, and standards of the charity and that they understand our policies and procedures.

The coach will be responsible for planning and delivering Monday evening training sessions, focusing on technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of goalkeeper development in a performance environment.
As a registered charity, the Community Trust works in close conjunction with Plymouth Argyle Football Club and with many people across several sectors where sport has proven to be the ideal tool for creating lasting engagement with individuals.
A key function of this role is to plan and deliver high-quality goalkeeping sessions on Monday evenings, aligned with the University football performance framework.
The candidate must have good, in-depth knowledge of coaching and development.
We would also expect the candidate to have sports coaching qualifications and be computer literate. In addition to this, the coach must be able to undertake key administrative duties that are associated with the role.
