Argyle Community Trust are delighted to invite your club to participate in the 2024 Babcock Community Cup, the annual cup competition and football extravaganza for local youth teams.
The competition, facilitated by Trust coaches, is open to all teams in the under 11 age group and will take place on Saturday, 11 May and Sunday, 12 May 2024 at Manadon Sports and Community Hub. The change of venue from previous events is due to pre-planned work at Home Park after the 2023/24 EFL Championship season concludes.
The 2023 event was a huge success and inspired boys and girls from across the region. A total of 1,079 players from 96 Devon and Cornwall teams took part, scoring 599 goals across the weekend! Our tournament winners were Marine Academy Plymouth U9s and U10s, Elburton Villa U11s, and Drake Football Club but every team contributed to a memorable weekend in the Devon sunshine.
This year’s event is again being supported by international defence experts and long-time friends supporters of the Club and Trust, Babcock International Group (Babcock). Babcock, which owns and operates Devonport Royal Dockyard, is one of the region’s largest employers and has a strong connection with the local community.
Babcock made the 2023 Community Cup possible through their ongoing partnership with Argyle Community Trust. Their employees were also pleased to volunteer and support throughout the weekend , to help inspire young footballers.
Paul Watson, Babcock’s Managing Director at Devonport, said: “We are pleased to be partnering with Plymouth Argyle Community Trust to deliver the Community Cup event again this year, which will benefit dozens of local school children. Good luck to all those who take part and thank you to everyone for volunteering to support with the event.
Trust Head of Participation, Stew Walbridge, said: “We are delighted to be working in collaboration with Babcock again this year.
“We are looking forward to welcoming 64 different youth teams to Manadon Sports and Community Hub with young people from across our regions set to receive an unforgettable experience.
