Argyle Community Trust are delighted to be launching a new mobile catering van at this year’s Babcock Community Cup!
Pilgrim Pizza will serve fresh, affordable, oven-baked pizza, and beverages but will be much more than your typical food van. Initiatives are planned to bring people together, connect local communities and, most importantly, use food to drive conversation and interaction.
The launch is taking place at Manadon Sports and Community Hub this weekend during the annual Babcock Community Cup which will see hundreds of boys and girls aged seven to 11 from clubs across Devon and Cornwall come together to take part in a weekend competitive football.
There is something for everyone on the menu, with mouth-watering classics like margherita and pepperoni, show-stopping toppings like Meat Feast and Buffalo Chicken, and inclusive options like our Vegan Supreme.
If you are going to be at Manadon for the Babcock Community Cup this weekend you can enter a special competition to win a signed Argyle football or home shirt by signing up to our mailing list and posting a photo of you to social media next to the van enjoying your delicious pizza with #PilgrimPizza.
Argyle Community Trust Catering Manager Malcolm Nolan said: “Our fresh, hand-rolled dough pizzas from our stone-based oven are delicious!
“I have thoroughly enjoyed working on this, from an empty van to an operational catering unit. I take pride in the quality of our food, and I am excited to work on this to give something back to the community with the opportunities the van seeks to bring.”
Argyle Community Trust Facilities Manager Lewis Coombes said: “We are excited to be announcing the launch of our very first mobile catering van. The van will act as an extension of the work we currently do within communities.
“It isn’t just about food, it’s about creating memories and opportunities, by bringing people together. It represents our commitment to innovating our services and the way in which we support local people.”
Partners from The Rank Foundation and Four Greens Community Trust have once again come together for this new venture, building on existing community collaborations to deliver an affordable, mobile food offering to the people of the south west. Without the power of these partnerships, the project would not be possible.
Pilgrim Pizza will be available for hire post-launch, offering its catering services to your event anywhere across the South West and beyond, whether it be a corporate event, children’s party, or wedding. Money raised from hiring the van will go back into Argyle Community Trust’s work supporting vulnerable communities in Devon and Cornwall.
The van will also be utilised across the local community in other exciting and innovative ways. More than just a food truck, Pilgrim Pizza will also serve as a mobile classroom, where people can gain an education around health, nutrition, and cooking on a budget and will act as a mobile drop-off for food donations for distribution across the local food bank network.
