Pedal 4 Pounds Chestnut AppealTHE Chestnut Appeal at Derriford Hospital now has the most up to date Ultrasound-MRi Fusion for Targeted Diagnosis of Prostate Cancer in the country and the first of its kind in the region.

This fabulous piece of equipment was funded by a number of sources, including money raised by participants on Argyle Community Trust’s annual Pedal 4 Pounds charity bike ride

It is fantastic that donors can see what their fundraising efforts can do and the Chestnut Appeal are so very grateful for all the help we receive in the community, you really do make a difference.

This fundraising campaign has meant the Chestnut Appeal are now able to provide the very latest in diagnostic equipment for faster diagnosis of prostate cancer, starting at  Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

At a cost of £105,000, the MRI-TRUS Fusion state of the art device provides precise targeting and the best possible prostate biopsy currently available. Whether for a first biopsy or as a repeat biopsy, patients have a greater peace of mind knowing that the chance of detecting significant prostate cancer is maximised, whilst minimising the risk of false negative results.

Thank-you to everyone who has contributed through Pedal 4 Pounds and the fundraising continues for Chestnut Appeal, as we prepare for the 2017 charity ride, when we will visit eight professional clubs, including Premier League grounds at Southampton FC and AFC Bournemouth before making our triumphant return to Home Park for the final home game of the season on Saturday, April 29.
