Over a decade of providing educational excellence
THE Pilgrim Centre at Plymouth Argyle Football Club has now passed its tenth anniversary of delivering educational excellence at Home Park.
Established in April 2006 in partnership with Plymouth City Council as a Playing for Success centre, the facility has grown from the original literacy and numeracy programme for 9-14 year olds, into and education programme that delivers to all age groups and a wide range of skills.
Through Erasmus +, the centre offers European Vocational programmes ranging from IT and Logistics to Marketing, Sports Event management and Photography. In partnership with the Tellus organisation, the teaching facility receives hundreds of European students each year on placements improving both work and language skills.
The Centre also supports learners who are entered for English and Maths GCSE retakes. We offer a highly successful Functional Skills programme, boasting an exceptional 100% pass rate in both Level 1 and Level 2 and we are happy to accommodate learners who wish to learn in small groups, one-to-one tuition or for examination entry only.
This year we are also offering Short Vocational qualifications through the awarding body – Ascentis. These courses at both level 1 and level 2, and include Healthy Living, Employee Rights and Responsibilities, Food Safety in Catering, Health and Safety, Internet Safety for IT Users, Managing Personal Finance and understanding Business and Enterprise. These can be delivered here at Home Park in the context of football or matched to the needs of other businesses or sectors.
