THE Extra Time programme has been running at Plymouth Argyle FC for over 7 years and is a programme designed for people aged 55 or over to have the opportunity to be involved in fun activities based on a welcoming atmosphere providing health opportunities and social events for those who may have become detached from activities and events.
Originally a Football Foundation initiative, Extra Time has been running for seven years at Argyle and a fantastic social opportunity for people in this age bracket.
Sessions delivered by the trust include New Age Kurling, Boccia, Armchair exercises, step aerobics, coffee mornings and other social events. The events are designed by the participants can at times be competitive. Sessions give participants focus to stay healthy while competing in an accessible sport for all levels of skill and fitness. Extra Time has also introduced sessions in skittles, aerobics and nature walks around Dartmoor.
Extra Time is a self-sufficient activity programme with participants paying a small contribution to cover costs. To date over 200 people have been actively involved in the sessions.
