Working with Next Steps South West, in 2018 we began a partnership which engaged twenty-five graduates of the National Citizen Service programme from that summer. Six fortnightly sessions were delivered in various locations such as Plymouth University, Plymouth City College, Home Park and Plymouth Pavilions. Each aimed to bring a new skill or opportunity to the young people enrolled.
The group are now involved in the planning processes for the summer of 2019 – some of them are now also staff members. They also completed NCS social action in 2019, performing a sleep out in the stadium at Home Park to raise money and awareness of homelessness in the city of Plymouth. This sleep out was featured on BBC radio and local press.
The group are forming ideas that can help to shape the future of the city and will be joined by fellow graduates from the 2019 programme during the next youth board introduction sessions, in late 2019.
