Improving fitness, health and nutritional knowledge in Year 5 children

THE Kinder + Sport Move and Learn project is a national programme focussing on improving fitness, health and nutritional knowledge in Year 5 children (aged 9-10).

The goal of Kinder + Sport is to increase levels of physical activity among young generations around the world, giving them the possibility to develop the skills that enhance their attitude to fitness.

We currently work across a number of schools across Plymouth, providing youngsters with a valuable insight on their own health whilst giving them a chance to participate in football, handball and dodgeball.

The programme offers a range of workshops, ranging from nutritional advice and cooking tips from the first-team chef here at Home Park to studies on the body with our physiotherapy team.

Participants on Kinder have been invited to join us for penalty shoot-outs on the pitch during half-time in first-team fixtures and we also have opportunities for schools to visit Home Park as part of their programme.

The project is managed by the English Football League Trust and is part of a national aim to get more young people moving, healthier and aware of activity levels and nutrition. Throughout the year we aim to work with 2,000 young people on this project alone
