Position: Post 16 Tutor Plymouth

Argyle Community Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Sports Tutor to join our education programme in Plymouth. Reporting to the Post 16 Lead for Plymouth, you will inspire, engage and ensure that every young person that goes through a Post 16 programme with us will have an opportunity to thrive and succeed.

The role of Sports Tutor will be to deliver across a number of vocational courses as required, these courses include but are not exclusively the level 2 NCFE Sports course, the level 3 BTEC in Sports Coaching, the YMCA level 2 gym instructors course, the YMCA level 3 personal trainer course and the level 3 esports extended diploma.


Alongside the Plymouth course, the Trust runs similar programmes in Camborne and Newton Abbot. Across the Trust, education programmes have expanded by 30% during the past two years resulting in a provision of over 160 students, 10 staff and eight football teams that play in the U19’s national leagues. We are proud of our results, with 100% of students completing the BTEC course and 96% achieving on or above their target grades.


This role will be based in Plymouth, delivered by Argyle Community Trust and run in partnership with City College Plymouth. Tutors will teach the qualifications through sport, most notably the medium of football, as part of ACT’s Football Development Programme for students aged 16-19 years.

In addition to this the tutor may be required to deliver on other vocational provisions as listed above. The successful candidate must have in-depth knowledge of the BTEC Sport specification, We would expect the candidate to have a minimum Level 4 teaching qualification and ideally QTLS. In addition to this the tutor should have a good standard of English and mathematics as well as a willingness to undertake key administrative duties associated with the role.


In addition to the role outlined above, depending on your aspirations, interests and qualification, you may also be required to assist with the football coaching duties of the Plymouth Post 16 provision. As a registered charity, the Community Trust works, in close conjunction with Plymouth Argyle Football Club and with many people across several sectors where sport has proven to be the ideal tool for creating lasting engagement with a diverse range of individuals.

We are looking to recruit a Schools and Community Coach who will primarily deliver sessions in a variety of school settings, as well as support community-based programmes including football development programmes and half-term camps. As a registered charity, Argyle Community Trust works closely with Plymouth Argyle Football Club and partners across multiple sectors, using sport as a powerful tool to foster long-term engagement and community development.

A key responsibility of this role is to identify, establish, and maintain sustainable participation opportunities tailored to local needs, while also supporting regional delivery across Devon and Cornwall to ensure alignment with ACT’s strategic goals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the KS1 and KS2 National Curriculum and school sport. Proven experience in delivering football and multi-skills activities to children aged 3–14 in a variety of settings—including schools and leisure venues—is essential.

Applicants should also hold relevant coaching or teaching qualifications across multiple sports and possess strong digital and administrative skills to support the wider responsibilities of the role.

Argyle Community Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Funded Programmes Officer to lead, develop and deliver a diverse range of high-quality funded programmes across Plymouth and South Devon. Working in partnership with key national organisations such as the Premier League Foundation, Premier League Charitable Fund and the EFL Trust, this role plays a vital part in using the power of sport and education to inspire, engage and create positive outcomes for children and young people.

The successful candidate will oversee delivery across a range of programmes, including school-based initiatives such as Premier League Primary Stars and Joy of Moving, alongside wider community programmes.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the delivery of funded programmes across our participation, health & community programmes which operate within schools and community settings, ensuring high-quality, safe and inclusive provision.

• Provide best practice guidance and support to staff delivering funded programmes across the region.

• Work closely with schools to design bespoke, customer-focused programmes that meet individual needs.

• Deliver a range of educational interventions including PE, classroom-based reading and writing interventions, PSHE workshops, and STEM-based programmes in partnership with Babcock.

• Monitor, evaluate and report on programme impact, ensuring key performance indicators and funder requirements are met.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with partners including schools, MATs and national organisations.

• Contribute to wider participation activity, including Development Centres, holiday programmes, roadshows, and HAF provision.

• Challenge and support colleagues to continuously improve and develop programme delivery.

About You

You will be passionate about education, sport and community impact, with a strong understanding of National Curriculum delivery and inclusive practice for children of all abilities. You will be confident in leading others, managing partnerships and using insight and data to improve outcomes.
