Argyle Community Trust partners with Plymouth City Council to elevate inclusion and tackle bias among leaders in the city

Argyle Community Trust has collaborated with Plymouth City Council to deliver a high-impact anti-bias and discrimination workshop, empowering the Council’s leadership to foster a more inclusive workplace and better serve the community.

Trust Premier League Kicks Targeted Officer, Kadus Smith, was invited by the council to lead the bespoke training session at the Council House. The workshop was specifically designed for managers and leaders, positioning them to be positive influencers of change in creating an equitable environment.

The proactive session focused on encouraging staff to identify and address unconscious biases within their teams and offices. By improving internal workplace inclusivity, the initiative aims to create a ripple effect that allowed staff to check their own biases and those in their teams and offices to make it more inclusive, and in turn how this can help positively impact the community both organisations proudly serve.

Kadus, delighted by the opportunity to deliver the workshop again, stated: “It is an absolute honour for me to be able to do this because it highlights the important work that Argyle Community Trust is already doing in the community.

“It also shows that decision-makers in the city are conscious that they want to improve and develop.

“I am excited to see what the future holds for our partnership and collaboration.”

Chloe Causer, Senior Community Connections Officer at Plymouth City Council, praised the training: “I found the workshop really useful and incredibly thought provoking. I am going to take away a lot of key actions and share them with the team.

“Everyone should take part in this workshop.”

The Trust is dedicated to building inclusive and diverse communities where everyone feels welcome and supported. The collaboration underscores the Trusts role as a key partner in driving social change across Plymouth and beyond.
