DSC_0087ARGYLE’S Football Education team secured an excellent win at Watford on Wednesday, recovering from an early goal to produce a fine attacking display.

After setting off for Watford at 6.30am, the Pilgrims started brightly enough but were hit by a suckerpunch to go behind against a home team coached by former Watford, Burnley and Stoke striker Gifton Noel-Williams.

A swift recovery was inspired by determined pressing in midfield from Sam Morgan and when the ball was delivered to Alex Mills, he finished with ease. Argyle then began turning on the style and a corner flicked on at the near post was tapped in by Travis Skerton.

After a relatively tepid opening to the second period, Skerton burst into life with a surging run down the left and a sublime chip over the advancing ‘keeper.

Head coach introduced substitute Clayton Thomas and he swiftly added two further goals, the second of which was a fierce drive into the top corner after a flowing team move.

Watford did win a penalty in the final minute and, while Jordan Stidson saved the initial spot-kick, he could do nothing about the rebound, but still a very satisfying performance.
