Extra Time Hubs is the start of a national social movement of people in their retirement years where people meet weekly to socialise and do things they enjoy. Each Hub harnesses the power of a football club in the local community to bring older people together to combat loneliness and inactivity. Extra Time Hubs harness the unique assets of the EFL Club Community Organisations (CCOs) network to bring older people together and give them the opportunity to meet new friends. Members are able to shape the range of activities on offer which benefit their physical, social and emotional health.

The aim of the Extra Time project is simple – to offer those who are retired or semi-retired a space and wider community to improve their physical, mental and social well-being by taking part in regular activities. The session is in partnership with Elder Tree Befriending Service and provides a wide range of activities for retired and semi-retired people which gives them opportunity to socialise, meet new people and try activities they might not have done before. Activities have included: Quizzes, walks, arm chair aerobics, singing, tai chi and many more. Sessions take place every Wednesday 1.45pm – 3.45pm at William Sutton Memorial Hall in St Budeaux.
