Improving the fitness, health and nutrition knowledge of year 5 children
Joy of Moving is a national programme focussing on improving fitness, health, and nutritional knowledge in year 5 children aged 9-10.
The goal of Joy of Moving is to increase levels of physical activity among young people around the world, giving them the possibility to develop the skills and knowledge that enhance their attitude to fitness.
We currently work across a number of schools in Plymouth, providing youngsters with a valuable insight to their own health whilst giving them a chance to participate in various games and a range of workshops.
Participants of Joy of Moving, Move and Learn programme have been invited to join us for penalty shoot-outs on the pitch during half-time in first-team fixtures and we also have opportunities for schools to visit Home Park as part of their programme.
The project is managed by the English Football League (EFL) Trust and is part of a national drive to get more young people moving, make them healthier, and make them aware of activity levels and nutrition. Throughout the year we aim to work with 2,000 young people on this project alone.
