10 Things to do in Devon and Cornwall this Easter

Spring has sprung and as a reward there’s two weeks of school holidays to enjoy this Easter. No matter if the sun is shining or there’s a little bit of rain, there is lots to do and enjoy in Devon and Cornwall.

At Argyle Community Trust we’ve pulled together a list of activities that you can do as a whole family or just for the kids – you may notice that we’ve been a little biased with some of our suggestions, but who can blame us!

 

1 Score or Save a Goal

2 Get Puzzled

The National Trust’s Glendurgan Garden in Cornwall is made of three valleys full of fun, natural beauty and amazing plants. As well as a puzzling maze to complete, you can also have a go at some wonderful word and picture puzzles as you explore all the different parts of the gardens. 3 Play Like a Girl

We are committed to providing more opportunities for females across the region to get involved with sport.From the very youngest age groups right through to Plymouth Argyle Ladies first-team, we aim to provide clear pathways for players to develop their skills and knowledge of football.This course allows young girls the opportunity to play and train in a focused environment.

4 Try Bird Spotting

Spring is the time when many birds breed, so why not start twitching instead of twittering. It’s also a good time to observe our feathered friends from your garden, local park or even through the window. Many birds will be showing off their plumage and engaging in courting rituals to attract a mate. All you really need for bird watching success is a keen pair of eyes, or binoculars, and a bird book or  for reference (click here to see the RSPB bird guide).

 

5 Become a Star

This is your opportunity to shine! The day is dedicate to inspiring young footballers who want to improve their football development.Activities include technical development, game awareness, small sided games and competitions as well as diet and nutrition advice.Young people will have the opportunity to be observed by our scouts and coaches.

6 Hunt for Easter eggs

All kids love a traditional Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday. You could plan one at home, hiding mini Easter eggs or hard-boiled eggs all over the garden and giving your children clues to follow to find the eggs.

 

7 Play to your Ability

For ages 5 – 19 years old. A fun filled day packed with football games in an inclusive and comfortable environment. Tailored for children with a physical impairment, learning disability or mental health condition. Half day option is available at a reduced rate.

There is also a series of Short Breaks available offering half day of football and multi-sport activities for children aged 7 – 14 years old with either Autism, ADHD. Sessions are limited to 14 spaces per day.

8 Hunt for treasure

You don’t need to wait for Easter to hunt for eggs. Instead, log on to the Geocaching website (click here) and find a suitable cache to go in search of. There are thousands of caches hidden in towns and countryside across the UK.

You can choose a short walk or an epic hike to suit your fitness levels, timescale and aspirations. Having a reason to walk can make a family day outdoors so much more fun.

 

9 Be Eggtravagant 

The Easter Eggstravaganza is an excellent way to round off the Easter holidays as an actioned packed day with a clear emphasis on fun, competitions and small sided games. Each participant will go away with a chocolate treat and prize.

10 Try something new

Whether it’s canoeing, cooking or crocheting, walking, reading a new book or painting, playing football, watching football, talking about football … take a breath and some time this Easter for yourself and your family.
