ARGYLE Community Trust have been appointed as Plymouth’s co-ordinator for sport and physical activity for the city’s Mayflower 400 commemorations in the lead-up to 2020.

Mayflower 400 marks the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims sailing from Plymouth to America in 1620 and an incredible range of activity will be hosted across the city to commemorate this significant historical event. Sport will be a key element of the programme, combining headline events with opportunities for grass roots clubs and the general public to get involved.

Mark Lovell, head of community at Argyle Community Trust, said: “We are delighted to be chosen as the lead organisation to help deliver the Mayflower 400 sport programme. The opportunity to be involved in such a prestigious event is fantastic and we look forward to working with as many organisations, clubs and individuals as we possibly can to grow participation in sport and physical activity within the city through existing sports networks. We aim to ensure there is an offer for everyone in the build up to Mayflower 400 and the commemorations.”

I’m excited that Argyle Community Trust are coming on board to bring together and encourage involvement from the wide range of sports organisations that we have in the city.
