ONE of the highlight events in our Premier League Primary Stars initiative is the chance to offer schools an opportunity to utilize a collapsed curriculum day.
Austin Farm Academy in the Eggbuckland area of Plymouth was the latest beneficiary and the whole school come off their usual school timetable to participate in sport for part of the day.
We kicked-off with an assembly attended by the whole school to introduce the core Premier League Values:
Be inspiring
Be fair
Be ambitious
Be connected
Pilgrim Pete was also on site and we enjoyed 30-45 minute sessions with every class, playing a variety of games tailored to the needs of each age group.

It is always a great pleasure for Argyle Community Trust to be so heavily involved in local schools and PL Primary Stars has opened new doors of opportunity for all of us. We were very grateful to receive some feedback from the Austin Farm Academy staff, which is outlined below:
“The assembly was a great way to begin the day. It excited the children and introduced the theme of fairness. It was a nice touch having Pilgrim Pete to join us. [Argyle Coach] Nathan Guppy was not fazed when technology wasn’t working at first. He confidently led the assembly and had a great manner with the children – this was commented on by the headteacher.”
“Our PE lesson involved teaming up in pairs and playing a game of scooping up a cone when Mr Guppy instructed. He gave clear instructions and all the children were engaged. He introduced the idea of fairness by asking partners to give their partner a chance if they hadn’t managed to scoop up the cone. The rainforest game was also good for them to learn about success and accepting if they had been tagged. A really good session – one I will repeat.”
