ARGYLE Community Trust would like to express our immense gratitude to Co-op members for raising £1,467.53 in support of our charity.

For the past six months, Co-op members have helped raise the funds through their membership and also by pledging to our charity section in the Peverell branch of the Co-op.

We have channelled these funds into our Ability Counts programme, which is dedicated to providing opportunities and access for footballers with a disability. Every time a Co-op member has purchased a Co-op own-branded product or service, 1% of their spend has gone to a local cause.

“As a Trust, we are delighted to have this significant investment into Ability Counts and would like to thank the Co-op and all members for their support,” said Health and Disability Officer Josh Grant.

“We have a number of teams competing in the Ability Counts League for footballers with PAN disabilities, as well as tournaments for players with mental health challenges, Down’s Syndrome footballers and a dedicated deaf squad.

“Our provisions are open to adult and junior footballers, and one of the fastest growing areas of the Trust in terms of numbers and popularity.

“We receive regular visits from members of the Plymouth Argyle first-team squad and we were honoured to welcome manager Derek Adams to recent sessions. Derek has displayed incredible generosity with his time and also volunteered to sponsor the Adult Ability Counts squad.

“It is incredible to read that the Co-op Local Community Fund has raised over £20m for local causes and we are very proud to be part of this group of benefactors. We are very grateful to the Co-op and the contribution of their members is making a real difference to our Ability Counts programme.”
