Lauren Nancekivell Mason was referred to Argyle Community Trust to receive mentoring support in functional skills, maths and English to support him back into work. He was enlisted on our Youth Engagement Programme (YEP!) and we are incredibly proud to highlight his incredible progress.
YEP! Is delivered in partnership with Cornwall Council and offers teamwork and collaboration alongside a range of bespoke support for 16 24-year-olds in Cornwall, with the aim of building confidence, resilience, and competence.
Since being referred to the Trust, Mason has shown an unwavering commitment to his education. Through regular, structured sessions with his skills tutor, he has built a foundation of consistency that is now driving his personal development.
Despite experiencing personal barriers, Mason has maintained excellent attendance and engagement throughout his programme. In addition, he completed the Get Construction Ready course, focussing on building his employability skills within the trade, a vital step towards his goal of a career in the construction sector. Delivered by RG Kellow, it represented a significant and positive step towards future employment.
Mason said: “I really enjoyed the course and felt that I learnt a lot about construction and how to pursue a career in the industry.”
The team at RG Kellow were very impressed: “Mason contributed well during the theory elements of the course, demonstrating strong ideas and thoughtful opinions. His engagement with discussions around current projects was particularly positive, and he showed a keen interest in the range of personal protective equipment required in construction roles.”
The Trust offer a range of functional skills qualifications, employability courses, and one-to-one mentoring that can aid young people in their future careers.
