THE latest Ability Counts tournament was staged at Stover School in Newton Abbot and another fantastic advert for footballers with a disability.
Argyle had two sides involved and the coaches praised them all for the terrific enthusiasm for the game, always supportive to new players and the tournament was played in great spirit.
We have to start with the Premiership 2 squad, who progressed to the semi-finals of the FA People’s Cup with three wins and a draw in their group, scoring 10 goals and conceding just one.
“They were all fantastic on the day, with most of the squad on the sidelines encouraging and shouting instructions to fellow team mates throughout games,” said coach Sam Barton.
It wasn’t a bad day either for our League 1 outfit, who remain third after a win over Twyford Spartans and a draw with Torquay United Inspirations, although we did lose narrowly to Special Olympic Plymouth and Exmouth Tigers.
We have also added a dedicated Plymouth Argyle Deaf squad and all groups train on a Tuesday evening at Lipson Cooperative Academy from 7.30pm – 8.30pm
