IT was always going to be a tough task for lowly Newquay at Plymouth Argyle and they had no answer to a super display from the young Pilgrims.

Louis Rooney got the ball rolling on 12 minutes and Argyle’s crisp passing was too much for the visitors to handle, doubling their lead through Connor McCauley.

Ben Steer added a third and it was 4-0 at the interval thanks to an effort from Alex Battle. Argyle showed no sign of resting on their laurels after the break, as McCauley added to his tally and substitute Cameron Sangster also joined the fun.

Rooney completed the 7-0 rout to move Argyle up to second in the table.
