Argyle Ladies 17-0 Cheltenham

ARGYLE Ladies followed up their win at Keynsham by producing a devastating performance to see off Cheltenham Town at Street FC.

Argyle were on the front foot from the start and took a 10th minute lead when Amber Pollock turned in a Zoe Cunningham cross. Minutes later, Cheltenham had a player red carded for deliberate handball which ended with captain Kate Middleton converting the penalty.

Natasha Knapman then raced on to a through ball to score before Rachel Javan fed Pollock who scored in off a post, leaving Tori Marks to open her account five minutes before half time to make it 5-0. Argyle were determined to press home the advantage in the second half and within two minutes of the restart Marks headed in a Mollie Taylor cross.

Seven minutes later, Pollock completed her hat trick with a Becky Atkins cross come shot making it 8-0. A remarkable four goals then came in quick time came through Marks, Knapman, Marks to complete her hat trick and Kayleigh Brown. Argyle were relentless in their pursuit of more goals, which came through Brown, Zoe Cunningham, Dani Barr with two and Javan to complete the rout.

Argyle manager Travis Rowland said: “I said to the girls at half time do we want to just dawdle our way through the game or are we going to be ruthless. The girls reaction said it all with nine different players on the score sheet.”
