A MIXED bag for the Plymouth Argyle squad in the Football Education League and Cup this week, as one solid win was offset by two defeats

The Cornwall squad based at Carn Brea will feel the they should have at least taken a point from the trip to Swindon, especially after recovering from conceding an early goal in blustery conditions.

A fabulous individual goal from Sonny Dover drew the sides all level and we felt like the better football was coming from the Pilgrims in the second period, but Swindon counter-punched with two late goals to take the win.

A heavy defeat for the Plymouth SC squad at West Ham was a serious lesson for the lads in the quality, character and dedication required to succeed at this level, but there was better news for the other Plymouth side.

Our other team took on Plymouth University in the Devon Cup and won 2-0, although not a vintage performance on the day. George Warren opened the scoring with a sensational volley and our place in the quarter-finals was secured by an easy finish from Josh Freeman-Wright. Well done to man of the match Aaron Philps.
