A PROUD day for the Football Education Programme at Plymouth Argyle as students from the course represented National League club Torquay United in a pre-season friendly at Stoke Gabriel.

Jake Anderson has just completed his first year in the education course at Home Park, while Haydn Greening has now progressed through the programme, and both started the match last weekend.

The links to Plainmoor grow even further with Tallan Mitchell, who also finished the Football Education Programme this summer, training with Torquay all the way through pre-season and set to be involved in the club’s friendly with Championship side Bristol City on Wednesday.

It is tremendous recognition for the course we run here at the club and provides future students with evidence of the clear pathways available for potential progression into the professional game.

The two-year course leads to a qualification equivalent to three A-Levels and former students have also moved forward to higher education, scholarships in the United States and careers in the sporting industry, including a number now working for Argyle Community Trust.
