THE rain is falling and pitches across the South-West are sucking up the moisture for a very different style of football.
Argyle have already developed a fine reputation for passing football during our first season in the Peninsula League but the young charges under Head Coach Kevin Nancekivell may well need to adopt a different approach this weekend.
Holsworthy are the visitors to a sodden Seale Hayne and the likelihood is that conditions will dictate a game of football that may be more suited to amateur players than aspiring professionals.
“The weather has been terrible this week and that does change our approach because you have to play to the conditions,” said Nancekivell. “It’s not ideal for us because we want to continue our philosophy of playing fluid football.
“We’ve done very well with passing the ball this season and looked bright in our attacking play, but you have to deal with all sorts of conditions. We talk about development for these young players and you can’t always play on bowling green pitches.
“We have to adapt our approach and show the understanding of what needs to be done on a sticky pitch. The weather is always factor in football and the way we play may have to change.”
