Leading Plymouth-based charities Argyle Community Trust and Jeremiah’s Journey have joined forces to launch a pioneering project to support teenagers and young people navigating the complexities of bereavement.
“Play Off Grief” provides free participant-led, multi-activities space for those facing the extreme difficulties of the death of a loved one. Whilst the children and young people are engaged in activities, experienced grief practitioners will offer a space for parents and carers in the on-site Common Ground Café which will provide a peer-to-peer support network.
Sessions run from 6pm-8pm at The Hub at Foulston Park, Devonport, and offer a variety of fun activities in the purpose-built Classic Actives Hall – including football, dodgeball, virtual reality gaming, and athletics, and gaming in the state-of-the-art Babcock Esports Arena – alongside one hour of group activities and professional emotional support sessions.
Crucially, Play Off Grief is tailored to those that need it, with youth voice ensuring sessions evolve depending on the real needs of participants, and enabling young people to connect with peers who understand their journey.
