ARGYLE embark on four consecutive home games when Sticker visit Seale Hayne for a Peninsula League showdown on Saturday.
Due to Cup commitments for other clubs, the young Pilgrims have not played since hitting Wendron United for six a fortnight ago and the challenge remains closing the gap on runaway leaders Mousehole.
Argyle’s hopes have to be boosted by the tremendous form of young striker Louis Rooney, who has 14 goals from seven games, and players of his calibre are having a positive impact on the boys involved from our Education scheme.
“Saturday brings another challenge and Sticker are going well in the League,” said Head Coach Kevin Nancekivell. “They’ve won six, drawn one and lost one, so a similar record to ourselves – they will be strong opponents.
“We will need to be at our sharpest and we have a striker in form with Louis Rooney. He’s a goal-scorer but also still a young lad. He’s a pro but, as is the case with Callum Hall and Aaron, they are youngsters learning their trade. Louis has been terrific so far and he needs to keep working at his game to make the next step up.
“The players from the Argyle Community Trust Education programme are also progressing very nicely. We’re always encouraging them to keep improving and you can see the benefits to them that comes from playing with professionals, as is the same with the apprentices.”
