THE Plymouth Argyle Pedal 4 Pounds adventure for 2016 has raised an incredible £18,000 for good causes in our region.
A team of dedicated riders took on the epic three-day challenge in April, cycling across the nine professional football clubs in South Wales and the South-West, completing their journey at Home Park.
All participants displayed wonderful commitment to the project, training hard to get in shape, while also attracting sponsorship donations from all over the world.
The money raised was spread across four areas: the Chestnut Appeal for Prostate Cancer, Green Taverners Good Causes, the Plymouth Argyle Academy and Argyle Community Trust.
We were delighted to present the Chestnut Appeal with a cheque for £6,000 earlier this week, which will help with their recent developments in fighting Prostate Cancer, the most common cancer affecting men in the UK.
The Chestnut Appeal has recently funded robotic surgery in our region and the next objective is to introduce the most advanced 3D full colour prostate scanner in the South-West.
The remaining £12,000 was used to support a number of projects delivered by Argyle Community Trust and the Green Taverners made a significant contribution to the recent Milk Cup tour for young players in the Plymouth Argyle Academy.
