Argyle Community Trust is thrilled to announce the successful recruitment of over 60 apprentices so far for the September 2024 academic year, matching skills and career aspirations of young people to employers across the south west.
It has been an incredibly busy few months, with the team working tirelessly to ensure the right apprentices are matched with the right opportunities, and the Trust is excited to welcome two new members to the team to support this growth and help ensure positive outcomes are achieved for each apprentice, school, and employer.
Trust Partnerships and Compliance Lead Tim Scott-Lloyd is proud of the team and to be a lead provider of apprentices in the region: “We offer bespoke apprenticeships to the sport and education sectors, which serve to utilise our organisational expertise across community sport, health, curriculum PE, and our wider school sports offer.
“We are proud to still be the apprenticeship provider of choice for our employers and so many talented individuals looking to kickstart their careers.
“As a charity, we believe in quality over quantity and provide a bespoke programme for each learner and employer.”
Milestones achieved by the team include:
- Intake of apprentices for September 2024 has increased by over 30% from September 2023 – the largest increase ever
- 85% of completed apprentices are still working within education after completing their apprenticeships
- 13% have gone on to university to train to become teachers.
Tim continues: “A huge thank you goes to our dedicated team for their hard work and commitment.
“Thank you again to all the schools and employers we work with across the city for another successful academic year. Here’s to 2024/25! We can’t wait to show you what we have planned.”
Trust Apprenticeship Manager Dave Shurmer adds: “Our apprenticeships aspiration is ‘One in All’ – to support every school across the two counties of Devon and Cornwall in having an apprentice.
“We value the power of physical activity in supporting academic attainment and believe in its potential to help every child realise their full potential. That is why our apprenticeships seek to build resilience across school sports provision and to provide a blend of training and free resources, informed by Masters level study and research.”
The induction will take place on Thursday, 29 August at Argyle for learners, including teaching assistants and sport apprentices, ready to start in September across schools in Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall.
If you or someone you know is interested in a rewarding career, there are teaching assistant and sport roles still available in schools across Devon and Cornwall.
