A DOMINANT display from the Plymouth Argyle Walking Football Squads saw us finish as Champions and Runners-Up in the Devon County Cup staged at Coach Road in Newton Abbot last week.
It is a measure of the strength in depth available to the Pilgrims and the impressive growth in popularity for this brand of football, which is aimed at players aged over 50 and with all the normal football rules, but with the added twist that running is not permitted.
On a day of drama, it was the Argyle B team that pipped our A squad to the title. The B side only lost once in the tournament, and that was to our A side, but three wins against other sides guaranteed the title. The tournament also involved Walking Football teams from Exeter City, Exminster and Bideford.
A fantastic day for all and Walking Football training is held on Monday evenings at the Goals Soccer Centre in Plymouth from 6pm – 7pm. Please contact Health and Disability Officer Josh Grant for more information on josh.grant@pafc.co.uk or call 01752 562561 ext.4
