WE had a fantastic time in our home-stays with some of the lads taking part in American Football games, watching College Ice Hockey and even hitting the Black Friday Sales at midnight. Three lads also got a Thanksgiving present of $40 cash each from a visiting aunt.
The dinner was amazing and I am really pleased with the photos and feedback from our players and also from the families they stayed with. The club received an email saying how respectful, polite and mature the guys were.
We then said good bye to the families in the morning and headed off to the batting cages for a go at baseball. Most went for the modest 20 – 35 mph, which is a little short of the 80mph thrown in Major League Baseball. We were fortunate that the Boston Red Sox had a few pros there training and we had the opportunity to chat and get a picture.
We then headed to Philadelphia and our third state of the trip (New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania) and had a quick tour of the Phillies Baseball Stadium. We then entered the Fargo Centre to watch the Philadelphia Flyers play Nashville Predators in the NHL (Ice Hockey). The response from the Scholars when we left was 100% positive with all buzzing with the amazing atmosphere and result. Flyers won in OT on a Power Play.
