MARJON University traveled to Bournemouth on Wednesday, looking to keep the successful run going and make it four from four but Bournemouth would be a tough task on a cold festive fixture.

This was definitely a game of two halves with Marjon looking sluggish out of possession and wasteful with the ball. Bournemouth took a 3-0 lead within 35 minutes and Marjon needed a wake-up call.

Manager Gary Jeffery reminded the Marjon lads what had brought them success in the last three weeks and wanted them to improve on individual belief, team work ethic and start enjoying the ball further up the pitch.

The Marjon lads stepped onto the field in the second half with a belief that they could win this game and they gave an incredible performance.

Callum Thompson won a free kick and stepped up to score into the top corner. Ryan Tetley produced a good knock into the box for centre forward Liam Prynn to score at the near post with a good header.

The equaliser arrived with 15 minutes to go and again from Thompson who scored just inside the box. Marjon kept knocking on the door with corners but just couldn't find that winning goal. The Marjon lads pressed together, played together and battled together, which was the missing ingredient from the first half.

Gary Jeffery said: “Players sometimes don't realise how important mental approach and professionalism is to being successful. They have the ability to do really well this year but must realise they have to produce and be consistent to be successful.

“This hard work, drive and desire goes a long way, and the natural football ability will then take care of itself.”

The Marjon lads deserve massive credit for the fight back into the game and continue to be unbeaten in four games, scoring 16 and conceding five.
