A PROUD day for Plymouth Argyle, our Advanced Development Centre for Girls and, most importantly, talented young goalkeeper Elena Pearce.

After impressing with her progress at Argyle, Elena was invited to trials for the English Schools’ FA Girls U15 England squad in a game played at Stafford Town FC.

Elena, who attends who attends Roseland Community College, was outstanding in the first-half, blocking a succession of one-on-one situations and impressing everyone with her composure in such a challenging environment.

The second period showed Elena certain areas of her game she needs to work on, such as her goal-kicks but still a fabulous performance, especially when considering Elena had not played a competitive game for six weeks prior to the trial.

Although Elena didn’t make the final 16, the two goalkeepers selected represent Chelsea and Leicester City, which shows the level of quality she is now playing alongside.

We now have a dedicated PL Girls Officer in Bow Jackson and numerous pathways for enthusiastic female footballers to join the beautiful game. To find out more, please contact bow.jackson@pafc.co.uk or call 01752 562561 ext.4
