Polish PilgrimsARGYLE Community Trust have been working with a Polish School, which participates in the Tellus programme. This means the Argyle Community Trust can offer business and administrative skills to Polish teenagers, as well as improving their English.

This week, Polish students from Wrocław aged 18-20, have been studying administration and economics as many aspire to be accountants back in Poland.

Tellus Education Group in Plymouth offers a range of educational courses for participants around Europe, in order to improve work skills, their English language and their knowledge and awareness of different cultures.

Trevor Lowman, from Argyle Community Trust, aims to equip the students with skills that could be easily applied to any business scenario. He says: “When you work for a company, you need to juggle many different jobs; if the company needs a promotional video, these students will be able to make it. If they need to look into branding, they will be the person to go to.”

Dominik is one of the students from Poland and he talked about how the programme enabled him to learn material that will be useful in his future career, such as computer skills as well as improving his English.

“This environment has helped me improve my English,” said Dominik. “I used to struggle when people spoke fast, but now I can follow the conversation easier. The atmosphere here is good and the people are very nice.”

Not only do the students go home with a set of administrative skills, but also the memory of Plymouth Argyle Football Club. Trevor added: “Many previous students still contact me to ask how the club and team is doing, helping to spread the Plymouth Argyle message across Europe.”
