AN unbeaten run of four games for the Plymouth Argyle Education Programme ended with a 3-1 defeat at a very good Portsmouth side on Wednesday.

Pompey contained a full apprentice among their ranks and also a lot of third-year students, compared to an Argyle team largely comprised of first-years.

The difference in age seemed irrelevant in the first period and unlucky to go into the break 1-0 down. Jamie Roberts deservedly drew us level early in the second half but the home side then showed their physical strength in the final 15 minutes.

Two late goals for Pompey leaves us ninth in the league and below the pre-season target of top six, but a home game with Birmingham next week represents a chance to rediscover our form.

All of us at Argyle Community Trust would like to wish our education Lee Hodges the very best of luck, as he takes his Truro City team to Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup this weekend.
