ARGYLE face St Dennis at Seale Hayne on Saturday afternoon as the Peninsula League season ramps up the fixture schedule with games coming thick and fast.

After a winter stricken by wet weather and a flood of postponements, the young Pilgrims now enter a crucial phase in our bid to win promotion from Division 1 West, with two games per week expected over the closing months of the campaign.

A battling 2-0 win over Millbrook last weekend was a result based on patience and perseverance, but high-flying St Dennis will provide a different type of test, as they look to recover from the surprise resignation of manager Jay Isbell earlier this week.

“It will be another tough game for us but it’s just great to be playing regular football again,” said Argyle Head Coach Kevin Nancekivell. “The fixture list will be very busy over the next couple of months and it will be a case of managing the players in terms of fitness and workload.

“We were made to work very hard by Millbrook last week and I was pleased the lads stuck to our principles of keeping possession, probing for opportunities against a well-organised defence.

“The results St Dennis have achieved this season is all the evidence we need to know this will be another big challenge but these are the games we need to win if we are to keep up the pressure on leaders Mousehole.”
