Argyle Community Trust recently welcomed a very special guest back to his hometown. So Solid Crew rapper and TV personality MC Harvey paid a visit to The Hub at Foulston Park to reconnect with his roots and promote an upcoming high-profile charity football match.
Born in Devonport Nursing Home before moving to South London as a youngster, Harvey has maintained deep ties to the city. During his visit, he toured his old Devonport neighbourhood alongside Plymouth Argyle first-team player Brendan Wiredu and the Argyle TV crew, reminiscing about his childhood, visiting family, and catching up with old friends.
“I was born in Devonport Nursing Home and have been coming to Plymouth since I was a child. I still have family that live here,” said Harvey. “It’s amazing. It’s my mum’s legacy. Every six-week holiday, my mum would bring me to Plymouth. I would go swimming at Mount Wise, build campfires…I don’t think people understand how amazing Plymouth is. You’re so close to the seaside, that lovely fresh air. I think it’s the only place in England where you don’t have to get on a plane and it feels like you’re on holiday.”

A VIP tour of the state-of-the-art facilities
The visit marked Harvey’s first time exploring the new developments at Foulston Park. While his children enjoying the onsite soft play zone, Harvey, a former non-league footballer himself, showed off his skills in the Classic Activities Hall.
Alongside Helen from St George’s Hospital Charity, he was given a VIP tour of the hub and surrounding developments, including:
- The new 3G pitches and running track
- Dedicated new homes for the Argyle Academy and Argyle Women.
“These facilities are amazing for the people of Devonport and Plymouth,” Harvey added. “It makes for an incredible set up for the football club.”

Forever Green v Team Harvey
Harvey’s return to the South West is all building towards the highly anticipated Forever Green v Team Harvey charity football match. The event will pit former Plymouth Argyle legends against a lineup of former Premier League and Championship players to raise vital funds for two incredible charities:
- St Georges Hospital Charity – specifically their ‘Time For a Change’ children’s appeal which aims to raise £5 million to completely refurbish their children’s wards
- Forever Green – Celebrating the players who have pulled on the Argyle jersey throughout our club’s storied history
St Georges Hospital Charity has a campaign to raise £5 million to refurbish their children’s wards through their Time For a Change Children’s Appeal.
St Georges Hospital Charity supports St Georges Hospital Trust which looks after St Georges Hospital, Queen Marys Hospital, and community services in South-West London as well as supporting national and international research.
Speaking about the charity game, Harvey said: “Unfortunately, a year and a half ago, my mum passed from cancer. Plymouth is my mum’s heritage so it wouldn’t have made sense to do the game anywhere but here. This is home.
“St George’s Hospital looked after my mum and were fantastic. I visited the children’s ward, and the nurses and the staff work so hard so I’m so pleased to be in a position to give back through this charity football match.”
The match takes place on Sunday, 24 May 2026.
Tickets for the match are £10 for adults, and £5 for children. Tickets can be purchased from argyletickets.com, in-person at the Home Park Ticket Office, or over the phone on 01752 907700.
