Marjon hosted Cardiff Uni in the BUCS Cup with a 4pm kick off under the lights. Marjon started the brightest with good team pressing and some very powerful forward play. Some fine quick football in the attacking third gave Marjons the first opportunity to score with Callum Thompson going close.

Five minutes later, some fine play from Ruben Kane, Thompson turned provider to set up Liam Prynn for Marjon’s first goal.

George Birkbeck, Ollie 'Murs' Woolland and captain Ryan Tetley were looking strong at the back and in control. Marjon won a corner where Kane turned provider with a well worked delivery for Thompson to score a very good goal.

Cardiff then turned the heat up but only to be denied by great team defending and excellent wide support from Pete lreland and Kyle Marks.

The third goal was a classic, as Louis Irwin latched on to a ball over the top and from 25 yards hit a half volley into the top corner – goal of the season contender.

With the score 3-0 at half time, manager Gary Jeffery asked his team to control the game, press harder and use-game management to win the tie. The Marjons manger was very happy as his side saw out the rest of the game with domination of the ball, and no injury scares.
