THE equation is simple for Plymouth Argyle Ladies after a tense 2-2 draw with Southampton on the weekend.

It now means three victories from the final three games will see the Pilgrims crowned as champions ahead of the physically powerful Southampton Women’s.

It was a rough and tumble affair on the weekend, and Southampton were clearly determined to avoid a repeat of the 7-1 defeat they suffered in the reverse fixture just a week before.

Becky Dandridge broke the deadlock for Argyle on 27 minutes but the visitors responded with a quick leveller, and we were looking at our first defeat of the league season when Holden scored for Southampton 15 minutes before the end.

There was barely time for Argyle to register concern, as Zoe Cunningham immediately replied to earn the 2-2 draw that sets up a grandstand finish.

The Development Squad enjoyed an equally dramatic afternoon, with a sublime lob from Gabi Alphous earning a 1-0 win over leaders Callington, who can still be caught by the Pilgrims if they drop points in their climax to the South West Women’s League race.
