We are proud to announce that Manadon Sports Hub, Argyle Community Trust’s flagship facility, will be open as a Community Café and Warm Space this winter, to provide a free warm, safe, and welcome space for the community.
The Community Café will first open this Friday, 16 December from 9am to 12pm, and will be open every Friday and Monday from Friday, 6 January 2023 for 17 weeks. As well as offering a space for the community to get together, the facility will provide:
- FREE Hot food and drinks
- Access to charging points to charge electronic devices
- FREE Wi-Fi access
- A warm, heated space
Importantly, the facility will provide a space to enable people to interact, make new friends, have fun through structured games and activities like bingo and quizzes, and obtain advice and guidance from local information services.
We will also be providing the opportunity for the community to take home food kindly supplied by Project 35 partner Ginsters.
Everything is available completely free of charge, the space is open to all, and booking is not required – full opening times can be found below.
The hub was recognised thanks to a successful bid for funding from Plymouth City Council through the Government’s Household Support Fund. Plans are already in place to ensure Manadon is at the centre of the community and establish itself as an inclusive and regular Community Café beyond the initial 18 weeks.
Hub Manager Nick Ioannidou said: “We are delighted to be offering our facility as a hub for the community we proudly serve. Our plan was always to launch a Community Café at the hub to give local people a place to engage, meet others, and feel comfortable.
