THE Football Education programme based at Home Park kicked-off their season with an impressive 5-0 win over Birmingham City at Saltmill.

Argyle have now moved into the Southern League, with the students competing against the top programmes across the region, while also studying for a BTEC Level 3 qualification in sports development, coaching.

Coached by former Argyle defender and current Truro City manager Lee Hodges, the Pilgrims swept past their visitors thanks to a superb hat-trick from striker Alex Mills and a terrific start to the campaign.

“We started the game on the front foot and a very good performance,” said Hodges. “It will be tougher this season but a brilliant way to start the season.

“We took an early lead through Alex Mills and it remained 1-0 until half-time. Alex added two more after the break to complete his hat-trick and we scored further goals through Sam Morgan from long-range and Morgan Parsonage.”
