THE Plymouth Argyle Girls Football Academy enjoyed a very special trip to Sunderland in the National Football Youth League last week.

The Girls made the long journey to the North-East, staying overnight and experiencing the full level of professionalism expected from a Football Academy in preparation for involvement in a national competition.

While the end result went in favour of Sunderland, our Women and Girls Officer Michaela Phillips was full of praise for her players.

“I was very pleased with their determination and work-rate, particularly in the second half,” said Michaela. “Sunderland have a very well established Academy and a fantastic experience for our players in such an impressive environment.”

The girls were given a tour of Sunderland’s Stadium of Light after the game and we would like to thank everyone at the club for their wonderful hospitality. Next up for the girls will be the National Football Youth Cup at St George’s Park.
