New PL Kicks sessions in Plymouth

Argyle Community Trust are excited to announce the introduction of three new Premier League Kicks sessions to the local area in Plymouth.

Premier League Kicks uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people to reach their potential.

It aims to bring people together, reduce crime and antisocial behaviour and provide a free pathway into sports, education, and employment.

The programme creates opportunities for young people who are at risk of anti-social behaviour, youth violence and/or from high-need areas to regularly engage in football, sport, mentoring and personal development opportunities.

Plymouth Argyle are one of 93 clubs across the Premier League, English Football League and National League which covers 38 police force areas to provide young people with access to free weekly football sessions and education workshops in safe and supportive community environments.

Thanks to the Premier League Charitable Fund and Plymouth City Council’s Youth Service, Argyle Community Trust has been delivering Premier League Kicks sessions to children for over 15 years and our programme has grown significantly.

We are delighted to introduce the addition of the following:

  • Kicks Boxing at Manadon Sports Hub on Mondays from 4-5pm for those aged 11+.
  • Kicks Football at Sherford Sports Hub on Fridays from 5-6pm for ages 8-18 years old.
  • Kicks Dance at Oxford House Creative Hub on Thursdays from 6-7pm for ages 10-16 years old.

The latter is brought in partnership with Plymouth Dance who will be delivering these new dance sessions.

Community Programmes Manager Alice Young stated: “The work we do in the community is crucial and often has a transformative impact on the lives of the young people we support.

Leveraging the power of sport and the influence of the Plymouth Argyle brand, our team acts as positive role models, inspiring and guiding these individuals. We are proud to collaborate with our valued partners to offer opportunities for young people across the city, ensuring all our services remain free and accessible.

We are committed to engaging with communities to ensure our work continues to evolve. Over the past five years, this has been evident as we’ve expanded into new areas and venues, reaching even more young people.

We’re proud to offer a variety of opportunities, including football sessions, dance, boxing, education, and employability opportunities. We’re excited to continue working with young people.

Looking ahead, we are thrilled to continue working alongside young people to grow and diversify our programmes, ensuring they align with young people’s interests and aspirations”.

We are devoted to providing sports opportunities to children in vulnerable areas and are continuously working with Plymouth City Council Youth Service to identify areas in need.

Sessions are free of charge and participants are encouraged to come down and get involved! You can find a list of all our Premier League Kicks football, boxing, dance and multi-sports sessions below:
