THE Pilgrim Centre at Home Park is always a hive of educational activity and this month has seen a very welcome European flavour land at PL2.
Our superb relationship with the Tellus organisation is now in its fourth year and opens up opportunities for European students to bring their English studies to the unique environment of a professional football club.
Working under the umbrella of the Argyle Community Trust, we develop their skills in areas that include ICT, Sports Administration, Event Planning, Media and we have recently added Teacher Training to the mix.
At present, we have a number of Polish students working with the Pilgrim Centre to improve their English and Administration skills, as well as a brand new sports-related project with an Italian group from a specialised Language School based near Rome.
This exciting venture also included trips to the Madejski Stadium at Reading Football Club, St James Park, Exeter City Football Club and a Premier League venue in the Vitality Stadium at AFC Bournemouth.
Their overall ‘Reset Project’ will see the students work on all facets of organising, publicising, economising and delivering a sports project, culminating in a Car Rally fully arranged by the students in their home city.
It is just another branch to the ever-growing tree of learning and development at the Argyle Community Trust.
