PLYMOUTH Argyle youngster Sophie Gillies stole the show with a match-winning performance for England Independent Schools in a superb 3-1 victory over their counterparts from Scotland.
The game was played at the St George’s Park National Football Centre and involved girls representing clubs like Tottenham, Reading, Watford and Brighton.
After spending the first-half as a substitute, Sophie emerged from the bench with England trailing 1-0. The home side drew level through an own goal and Sophie then took control, scoring twice with excellent finishes to secure a 3-1 triumph.
It was a fantastic achievement for Sophie and a measure of her progress as part of the Advanced Development Centres for female footballers attached to Plymouth Argyle.
