THE education tentacles of Argyle Community Trust have now stretched to Liskeard School and Community College, where the Trust Football Development Manager Jason Chapman has taken responsibility for the College Under-18 team.
As a Trust, we’ve been looking to establish greater educational links in East Cornwall for some time and we are delighted to now be working with Liskeard School and Community College.
The College has joined the Argyle Education League, competing against teams from Redruth, Okehampton, Kevicc in Totnes, Sir John Hunt, Wadebridge and City College Plymouth.
“We have worked with the College in the past through Lee Hodge, who has now moved on to pastures new, and we’ve stepped in to help with football provision,” said Jason.
“Unlike a number of our education programmes, where all the players are working towards specific sports-orientated courses, a number of the Liskeard squad are studying A-Levels and courses in the whole spectrum of subjects.
“Our role is to deliver coaching sessions three times a week after school time and then take the players to compete in the Argyle Satellite League on a Wednesday. We take care of the football side of things and the school looks after everything else.
“As a Trust, we are delighted with the standard in the Argyle Education League. Within our squad at Liskeard, we have three County Youth players and six of the team compete in the Peninsula League on the weekend.
“The League is well organised by Neil Slateford at Redruth and everything is done to professional standards.”
