Bude Preview WebPLYMOUTH Argyle closed the gap on runaway leaders Mousehole to four points after a clinical display that oozed professional quality in front of goal.

While Louis Rooney rightly deserves the headlines for scoring four goals, Callum Hall was a constant threat on the day for Argyle, as Penzance toiled against a home side playing some lovely football on a balmy day at Seale Hayne.

Rooney broke the deadlock within the first minute and despite Penzance pulling level soon after, the three points always looked like staying with Argyle, particularly when Rooney scored his second with a near-pots header before half-time.

The Pilgrims then ran riot after the interval, with Rooney adding two more to his personal tally and goals from Fletcher Williams and Connor McAuley preceded a late consolation for a deflated Penzance outfit.
