Argyle enter the game with City College Plymouth

Are you a gaming enthusiast aged between 16-18? Study Esports with the Argyle Community Trust and City College Plymouth.

Our dedicated education team is delighted to have teamed up with leading South West education provider City College Plymouth to offer students a BTEC Level 3 programme in Esports, brand new for 2022.

This exciting new two-year opportunity will allow students to turn their passion for video games into a career in Esports, sport, tech or business and gain an industry-recognised Level 3 Extended Diploma. The course will have the added benefit of taking place at Home Park, the home of Argyle, alongside other venues ensuring the best enrichment for students.

Esports, or electronic sports, is a term used to describe competitive video gaming where there is human vs human competition over a variety of games. Just like traditional sports, Esports are usually followed by spectators and there are prizes to compete for. Unlike some traditional sports, Esports is mixed, with all genders competing together.

As part of the course, students will represent Argyle at weekly Esports competitions, pitting their skills against students across the country in disciplines like FIFA, NBA and F1.

There are vast career pathways and opportunities available to students on completion of the course, both within gaming and other industry sectors. As well as the ability to become a professional Esports player, careers can be followed in Esports-related roles like coaching, analysis, and production, as well as careers in sport and tech services like marketing, PR, cyber security, software development and much more. Students can also progress to study in various disciplines at university, including sports, business and technology.
